Get a second monitor, be more productive. Simple as that.

Sometimes we feel like our computers make us less productive, but did you know there is one simple and easy thing you can do to be more productive on your computer? What is this miracle application? Wise words from a productivity guru? Nope, none of those things. All you need is—a second screen. At work or at home, just having a second monitor not only gives you extra space to work, but also extra places to put things. Like have a big screen for spreadsheets, but use your MacBook screen to hold floating tool palettes. Maybe working on a document or presentation on one screen with resources on another. Frankly, once you start, and get used to, having a second screen, anything else just feels, cramped. I have trouble working on just my MacBook screen for any length of time. Don’t just take my word for it here are some otherfolks saying the same thing:

Two screens makes comparing two documents side-by-side easier or pulling information from a spreadsheet into a presentation or document faster. Honestly, once you try two monitors for a while, you’ll never want to go back. Frankly, investing in a second monitor is one of the least expensive and most cost effective things you can do to improve your productivity.

Be more productive this year! Get a second monitor for home or work! Acer 24″ monitors for $199.99!

All MacBooks and iMac (yes, even iMacs!) can easily add a second screen, so what’s stopping you?

And don’t forget the DisplayPort Adapter!

  1. I agree, completely. I use my computer all day, and have had two screens for years.

This might sound crazy, I actually dream of getting a third one. I’d choose one that I could position vertically, in portrait mode. I get so tired of scrolling down and down again when I’m working on creative projects and need to get in closer than the fit-page-to-window view will allow.

No question I get more done with two screens. Can’t imagine coping with only one. I’d go mad.

Everyone here has two screens. I have two screens at home and I used to use my iPad as a third screen sometimes!

I’ve also been using two monitors for a long time and love it. My only complaint is that when using the new the full screen apps in the latest OS, it only lets you use one screen at a time.

  2. oops… down and UP, then down again…
