A new year is about making a fresh start and, if you’re like many people, one of your resolutions is to live a healthier life (lose weight, more exercise, more comfortable work area). Here at Simply, we’re no different than you, we all want to be healthier, happier people in 2012. Lucky for us we have a secret weapon: technology. For the first newsletter of 2012, we are focusing on how some cool tech can help you kick the new year off right.
iPod nano brings music to fitness
Sure lots of us know that the iPod nano does more than just play music. There’s a clock, radio, a Nike+-powered fitness tracker… Oh you didn’t know that! You bet! There’s a whole section on iPod fitness using the nano, not to mention the all the other features of Nike+ and iPods and Nike+ GPS on the App Store. So if you have an iPod nano, iPod touch, or an iPhone, you’re already part of the way there to getting up, getting going, and getting healthy. Come into any Simply store and we can tell you more about the Nike+ system. To help you out on this goal all Sennheiser Adidas headphones are 20% for the month of January! Great headphones that are designed for the active person. Our President Gord McOrmond loves his Sennheiser Adidas headphones. Gord says that those are the only headphones that can stand up to the rigors of sweat and running in the rain!
Measure and track your progress
Being healthy isn’t just about keeping track of your runs and walks, it’s also about keeping tabs on your progress too. This is why we love the iHealth Blood Pressure dock and iHealth Blurtooth digital scale. Both of these devices connect to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with free apps to help you track your progress and even email the updates to your doctor. You can come into any Simply store to try out these cool devices and for the month of January all iHealth devices are 20% off!
A second screen helps you be more productive
If you look around at most offices, certainly the offices here at Simply, you’ll see that almost everyone has two monitors on their desk. This isn’t because we are all tech geeks and work for a computer retailer, it’s because having a second screen helps you get more done. How much more? How about 20-50% more? And don’t just take our word for it here are some otherfolks saying the same thing:
Two screens makes comparing two documents side-by-side easier or pulling information from a spreadsheet into a presentation or document faster. Honestly, once you try two monitors for a while, you’ll never want to go back. Buying a second monitor is one of the easiest, most cost-effective things you can do to be more productive with you Mac. Simple as that. Be more productive this year! Get a second monitor for home or work! Acer 24″ LCD monitors as low as $199.99! Save 15% on selected, in-stock NEC monitors! And don’t forget the adapter! Read more in our second monitor post…
Don’t forget the ergonomics!
While you’re at it, setting up a second screen and all, make sure that your office and desk are set up correctly. Make sure your monitors are at the right height (wondering what to do with old phonebooks?), your arms are nice and level, and you don’t have to stretch to get to things that you use all the time. Wikipedia has a good article on how to get your desk set up correctly.
We’ve got the gear you need
Some of the most popular gifts this holiday season were iPads and other Apple gear. If you got an iPad this holiday season, did you get a case or cover too? How about a stylus? Got an iPod? How about some great headphones (we all know the Apple ones are just “okay”)? Simply prides itself on not only having the best selection of accessories for your iPhone, iPad, iPod, or Mac around, but also the best accessories. We don’t carry cheap bags because cheap bags look terrible and never last. We don’t carry bargain hard drives, because you can’t really trust your data to a cheap drive. We search, we test, we try, we review, and we even buy for ourselves the gear we carry. Now’s a great time to check out the “extras” that will help you get more out of the gear you have. Not sure what would go well? Just ask!
