How many time have you been to a business meeting, talk, or whatever and there is a 5-10 minute (or longer!) delay while the presenter futzes with the projector to get it to work?
Personally, I’ve lost count. Heck I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve lost precious meeting or presentation or class time minutes trying to get projectors to work. But here’s an idea, how about ditching the projector altogether? How about an HDTV and an Apple TV?
Don’t shake your head…it’s not as crazy as you might think.
From this MacWorld article it sounds like it works pretty well.
Actually I can tell you from my own experience it does work well.
Some caveats here. First AirPlay and video mirroring from iOS devices only works for the iPhone 4S, iPad 2, and the new iPad. You can’t mirror from a MacBook (for example) to an Apple TV (natively)…yet. Though when Mountain Lion (10.8) comes out this summer that is one of the features. In the meantime you can try AirParrot to do the same thing.
Easy for boardroom presentations.
Hmm, this could make an Apple TV a presenter’s best friend.

Does this mean that we would need to cart around an HDTV?
Yes, and it can be done! We actually use one ourselves at the International Village Mall location in Vancouver for doing seminars in the mall. Let us know if you’re looking for a cart for your HDTV – we can source them for you!
We attended the Langley store Apple TV presentation by Phil last night and found it extremely informative and entertaining. Phil is a great presentor. We have Apple TV at home and we attended this session to find out more air play from IPad and other remote features of Apple TV.
We are very happy with Apple TV. The session answered all our questions.
Thanks again for putting on these free classes we find them very informative.
